We are three biologists with a passion for science communication and the natural sciences. Our goal is to make science-learning accessible to everyone by presenting important topics in biology in an entertaining and approachable format.
About Joris
Hello, my name is Joris and I am a fool with a scientific degree. I like writing about science, but I don’t like writing like a joyless robot. I love to talk about science even more, without sounding like a teacher or professor. Yet for now, writing it is.
In the eyes of the law, I am an adult. In the eyes of reality, an overgrown child. I do grow facial hair, but only in patches and I am able to speak formal, but get bored of it easily. Being 27 means I know how to conduct myself in a proper fashion, yet choose to be the weirdo I truly am. And I can still get away with (less and less though).

About Brianna
Hello, my name is Brianna, Bri for short 😊. I am a biologist who is particularly interested in insects, pathogens, and symbiotic relationships. Biology has been a passion of mine from a young age. As a child, I’d excitedly chase lizards, observe ants, and spend hours in aquariums. There was no doubt in my mind what I wanted to be when I grew up.
Life is simpler in the mind of a child. As I transitioned from adolescence to adulthood, I realized there was more to biology than just being a biologist. I had to consider what subfield to go into, a research-orientated or lab technician roles, or maybe if I should become more of a communicator. Eventually, I realized that I love both research and science communication. Through this blog, I’m hoping to share my experiences as a researcher and everything I love about biology while growing as a science communicator.

About Karen
Hi, my name is Karen and I am the plant lover amongst us three biologists. Needless to say, I have a lot of plants at home that get more attention than any non-plant lover would consider sane. In my opinion, no room in the house isn’t improved by adding some (or many!) plants to it. I love challenging myself by keeping high-maintenance plants and making them thrive. I have learned much about them and their ecology through this, which only adds to my appreciation.
Out of the three of us, I am the least inclined to be a science communicator (mainly because I am an introvert and a hopless overthinker). I prefer working behind the scenes such as editing, filming/photgraphing and upholding our social media accounts. There won’t be many articles written by me and if so, possibly after much persuation.
